I am always inspired by the moving image and the written word.
My first love was found in speciality aisles of video stores and bookstores: horror and genre fiction. Viewings of seminal terrors from around the world at a young age may have lost me sleep, but they paved the path for me to become obsessed with creating and sharing the fears and curiosities we have in common.
In my teens, I became a devotee to the great domestic and ensemble dramas throughout cinema’s history, and I found a kindred interest in the world of human-centered drama — a passion only amplified by a short stint in journalism in which I won a national award.
My writing and filmmaking are partly rooted in the fusion of dark genre and family dynamics — what I sometimes label as “doomed domesticity.” I love stories that can remind us and ask us about our families and friends while also keeping us from getting out of bed at night.
Graduating from USC Cinematic Arts’ screenwriting program, I have worked with companies such as NEON, Blumhouse, Monkeypaw and FilmNation, seeking to learn the operations of these studios and their collaborations with filmmakers.
